East of the Sun, West of the Moon

Sharing my love of folklore, mythology, fantasy, literature, music, art history, medieval studies, prehistory, shamanism, animals, and nature. I am forever longing for the lands of the North...the lakes, the forests, the midnight sun, and the lights that flicker in the dark winter sky.

…..The silence went on and on, so long that she began to grow afraid once more, but she was afraid for him now, not for herself. She found his massive shoulder with her hand. “He was no true knight,” she whispered to him.
Also: Sandor’s weasley sweater. I love that thing.

Beautiful. I love the dreamy quality to the post-tournament night-landscape behind them. This is my favourite depiction of this scene I’ve seen thus far. :)

Sandor Clegane by ~Vestergaard
This one’s been kicking around for a while, but who could resist Sandor in his cheesy dog head tunic? It’s like the granny sweater of tourney fashion.
Can you imagine him picking this out in a shop, or having it made? “Grrr. Red, size XXXXXL, with a scary dogface on the front because I’M THE HOUND.”
Or maybe Sandor is a secret DIY’er and made it himself, holed up in his quarters with some felt and a needle, just to impress Sansa at the tourney. That went over real well.

You know when you’re so drunk you can’t sleep because when you close your eyes the room starts spinning, so you end up watching a Real Housewives marathon at 3 am? When Sandor gets the spins he stays up and works on his embroidery.

Reblogging this yet again because it is the most hilarious-yet-sad thing I’ve ever seen. Can you just *imagine* Sandor’s bulky frame hunched over his sewing? I bet he is constantly pricking his fingers and bleeding all over it. He’s probably like ‘BUGGER THIS, just dye it red!’ XD

This art.  Ack one of the best I’ve seen.  He looks vicious, angry, lethal….and sad.
Perfect.

100% agreement!!!! It has been capture completely Sandor´s character.
The contrast between shadows and light.

Oh I agree completely, this has always been one of my favourite depictions of Sandor Clegane. It captures my head canon version of him so well! And, best of all, if you look carefully you can see that there is a wee Little Bird sitting atop his Hound helm. The contrast between light and dark as well as the contrast between his rough, heavy armour and the delicate little bird is just…..perfect.   :)

A photo I found of a beautiful Friesian stallion decked out in medieval barding. Replace the rider’s helm with a Hound helm and the griffin crest with the three dogs sigil and voila…..Sandor Clegane upon Stranger. Yes, I am obsessed.:D

can we notice how big his hands are in the second pic? Like literally he could cover her entire face with it not that the size matters or anything wat

Bahaha, the ‘hands’ comment……hooo boy….soooo true. *drools*
